One of the things that I strive to do is always educate my clients on what treatments there are and how they will benefit them. Recently I have received quite a few questions about the LED Light therapy treatment I offer. I am hoping you find some useful information about this treatment and give it a shot. So let’s dive right in!
Light therapy uses natural light of different colors (wavelengths) to cure, treat, and prevent a growing list of conditions. LED facials have been changing the beauty game because of how it can help achieve younger, clearer, and more radiant skin. At Skin Care By Calie, I use The Golden Glow LED mask by Advance Esthetic, which has seven different wavelengths making the device ideal for treating a number of skin conditions. The light waves work at a deep, cellular level, which produce positive changes in the appearance of the skin.
When people hear the word LED they immediately think of just a different types of lightbulbs and nothing more. The truth is that it is far more than that. Now its time to get scientific! LED stands for light-emitting diode and each light carries significant meaning. Originally developed to fast track the healing process of wounds and post-surgery scars, researchers soon discovered that LED light had a positive effect on improving healthy skin as well. Soon the skincare industry took notice and started using it and the LED facial was born. I offer this service to treat a number of common skin concerns ranging from acne, Rosacea, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, reducing pore size, and more. The goal of an LED facial is to improve skin conditions and help rejuvenate the skin while not causing any down time. Yes, that’s right, light therapy does no harm and is natural, gentle, safe, and an effective treatment, with no side effects. LED is the only aesthetic device which as no contra-indications of any kind. It is also safe for the eyes and cannot be over used. LED light therapy is also good for all skin types, colors and conditions.
Sometimes these topics are confusing and misinformative, so I wanted to address a couple things which an LED facial is NOT. Light therapy is not laser therapy. Light therapy is also not an IPL (Intense Pulse Light). Lasers take light, focus it into a continuous beam, and work by destroying specific tissue. Specific wavelengths of light are chosen to target certain cells or depths of skin, damage is done to those targeted areas, and then your body heals those areas. LED light facials are not that, they are comfortable and relaxing! Most of my clients even fall asleep during this treatment. Depending on what your skin concern is, will then determine which colored light will be used during that treatment resulting in new collagen and elastin.
As I said previously, the mask that I use offers seven different light treatments. Below are which skin conditions each light treats:
1) Blue Light: Kills the bacteria known to cause acne and other blemishes.
2) Cyan Light: Helps reduce inflammation.
3) Light Blue: Offers soothing relief from inflammation caused by allergies or breakouts.
4) Green Light: Dimishes fine lines and wrinkles.
5) Dark Purple Light: Helps eliminate lines and evens skin tone.
6) Purple Light: Stimulates lymph activity.
7) Red Light: Dilates blood vessels, which enhances blood flow.
The best part about this whole treatment is there really are no restrictions on how often this facial can be performed. In salon treatments can be offered 2-3 times a week, ideally for up to 4-6 weeks for optimal results. A session only takes 20 minutes and the cost is built into the price of a facial, or you can have it as a stand-alone treatment for $50.
Results are what everyone wants to see, right? Although they do vary from client to client, here are the typical results you will see from this treatment:
· Reduced erythema (skin redness)
· Improved healing in wounds and lesions
· Activation in the skin homing immune system
· Rejuvenated skin
· Provides photo-aging reversal and anti-inflammatory benefits
· Promotes fibroblast (collagen) production
· Reduced appearance of scarring
At the end of the day, it is all about you. I would like my clients to achieve the best-looking skin imaginable and this is one of the many tools I have to help get you there. LED facials are definitely one of my favorites and worth checking out!
