It’s the 21st century and we live in a fast paced world filled with technology, gadgets, and things only dreamed off years ago. Cars are driving themselves and we can talk to our own artificial personal assistants. Every year a new phone comes out and we think we have to have it for one reason or another. Well its time that the skin care industry got some love too and we only need to look as far at the Hydrodermabrasion Oxygen Infusion System.
This amazing treatment uses peeling solutions or normal saline to gently exfoliate the skin. It is a crystal free alternative to microdermabrasion and uses water jets as a process to break up the outer layer of skin to reveal a more even skin texture and smoothness.
At Skin Care By Calie, I use the Zemits Wasser Hydrodermabrasion machine by Advanced Esthetic. Each service is broken into three different steps:
- Vacuum Suction
- Peeling with abrasive tip
- Hydration with incoming liquid
I start with a double cleanse, followed by the first tip using suction to my clients skin in a gentle manner, removing dead skin cells. During the first step, water is delivered to the skin while the vacuum suction stimulates the lymph flow and increased blood circulation.
The second step uses an abrasive tip which provides the exfoliation factor. During this phase of treatment dead skin cells are removed from the stratum corneum while stimulating lymphatic drainage and providing a pore cleansing extraction to make your skin glow!
The third step used during this treatment is incoming liquid which washes away dead skin cells and hydrates the epidermis. The saline component during this stage absorbs oil and sebum from the pores providing a deep pore cleanse.
After these three steps are completed I apply a calming masque for 15 minutes where you will receive a relaxing hand and arm massage. After the masque is taken off, an oxygen infusion treatment using the same Hydrodermabrasion machine is performed. This is combined with a sensitive skin solution peel which will give an extra boost to the results from the treatment. Oxygen infusion uses high force flow of low molecular liquid with oxygen which help penetrate deep serum into the skin providing skin rejuvenation.
One of the best things about Hydrodermabrasion is that it can be used on all skin types to repair aging, congested, dull, blemished or photodamaged skin. This treatment is a great option for those who have sensitive skin and are looking for a gentle way to exfoliate. Clients with mild acne scars can also benefit from this procedure as well as those with oily skin. In addition, puffy eyes can also be treated using this procedure.
Skin types Hydrodermabrasion can treat:
- Acne and Acne scarring
- Fine Lines and Wrinkles
- Aging Skin
- Dry and Dehydrated Skin
- Uneven Skin Tone
Unfortunately there are some skin types that the Hydrodermabrasion treatment is not the best treatment option.
The clients with the following contraindications should NOT proceed with this service:
- Rosacea cannot be treated.
- Impetigo skin infection.
- Autoimmune disease.
- Accutane patients- you must wait 6 months after discontinuing the medication.
- Grade 4 acne/
- Cancer- clients must be in remission for at least 6 months prior to a course of Hydrodermabrasion treatments.
- Cuts, bruises, abrasions.
- Raised moles, warts, skin tags.
- Keloid scars.
- Psoriasis
- Eye infections ex: Conjunctivitis, styes and/or Cysts.
- Skin disorders such as: Seborrheic Dermatitis, Herpes Simplex, Active Acne, and Eczema
Although there are some limitations in skin types, this treatment is not just limited to the face. If you suffered from acne on your back as some of us have, you might have some acne scarring as a result. The Hydrodermabrasion is able to treat this area as well and help reduce that scarring!
Another amazing thing about this system is that this treatment can be performed every two weeks. Although they don’t need to, I recommend to most of my clients that they wait one month before their next treatment. This is due to a light lactic acid treatment being included during the Oxygen Infusion phase. By waiting that little bit longer it allows time for the skin to heal. Generally 4-6 treatments are to be performed for maximum results, however, clients with problematic skin may need a longer course of treatment.
