I can’t imagine there being a person out there that wouldn’t want to take the extra steps for healthy, beautiful skin. The problem which most of us face is finding the time to do it and not having an idea of what to do. My goal is to point you in the right direction and give you the information you need as you start out on your skin care journey. Before we jump in, I want to say that this is in no way a replacement for an in-person consultation. My goal at Skin Care By Calie is to provide personal care to each client. It is crucial that before starting any treatment we sit down and discuss all options and what is the best plan of action for you specifically.
If you haven’t read my blog about choosing the right aesthetician for you, I highly recommend you do so. Much of what I discuss there also applies to knowing what treatment is right for you.
The first question that I like to ask my clients is what do they see when they look in the mirror. Is there something they would like to improve on, or do they just want to maintain healthy skin? For teenagers that question is almost always answered with clearing their skin from acne or blemishes. This issue isn’t exclusively something teenagers face though. Even adults suffer from the occasional breakout from the stresses of life and want to work on their skin. In the end what bothers you the most is what matters the most and that is what I want to help you improve. Have that question in your mind when you are thinking about what you can do to treat your skin.
Once we have discussed the issues that you feel you want to address it is important for me to establish what kind of at home regiments you are doing on your own. For example, the kinds of products you are using could actually be making the problem worse or not helping the condition at all. If your issue is that your skin tone is uneven or you are seeing “blotchiness”, using a basic cleanser without brightening properties isn’t going to help and not using sunscreen when going out into the sun will only trigger the skin condition to worsen and darken the areas. Having the right products like ones which contain vitamin C, Retinol, or HydoQ is crucial to correcting this condition. In some cases, I find that my clients are still experiencing these issues despite using the correct products. This helps me establish if I am able to perform certain treatments and if the products they are using are the correct strength or even possibly too strong.
These preliminary questions all determine the best treatment options for you as my client. In the services section found on my website I detail each service that I offer, as I provide a treatment for every skin type and every age. All services are customizable for your individual needs. With so many skin types and conditions such as anti-aging, acneic skin (oily), sensitive skin, hyperpigmentation/Melasma, dehydration (dry), acne scarring (combination), normal skin types and more, there are many different options to choose from. I want to focus here, on how to pick the right treatment for you. Rosacea is a sensitive skin condition which causes redness and sometimes bumps to the face, ears, or even the chest and back. If I get a visit from my client who is suffering from this condition and has hopes to have clearer skin, I know there are specific options to address. For a lot of facials hot steam or hot towels are common use, which might feel great but are not always the best treatment option. Knowing that my client has Rosacea and some broken blood capillaries (Telangiectasias), these methods will actually strip the skin and leave the areas more red and dry and I would make them aware of this prior to beginning. Instead, calming methods like products containing hyaluronic acid, thyme, cucumber, lactic acid, and even LED light are great options to treat this condition. This is just one example of how choosing the right treatment for your specific issue can determine the results you see. No matter what you are seeing me for, I will always make sure that these points are addressed. It is also important when performing these treatments that allergies, medications and any medical history are taken into account. I will always verify these before I proceed with any treatment. If you are curious about the complete list of services that I offer, feel free to check out my services tab on my website. I break down each individual service so you know exactly what to expect when booking your appointment.
If you read my blog about choosing the right Aesthetician, one of the topics I talked about is knowing what your goal is with your skin care treatments. This is also something that I will want to establish before we start any kind of procedure. Knowing this will give me the direction I need to help you achieve the results you are looking for and determine the best treatment option. Once we have discussed all of your facial choices and have decided on one, it is important to remember that results do not happen overnight. In some cases for example chemical peels and other facial treatments (Hydrodermabrasion, Light Therapy) may cause the skin to purge and worsen before seeing clearer skin. My hope is that you view your skin in a different light when you leave and understand that progress takes time. I will go over the plan that I feel is best, including the series of treatments I would recommend as well as homecare products, so you will know exactly what it will take to achieve the goals you have in mind. You will never leave without me recommending an AM and PM regimen which compliment the treatments you are receiving in office at Skin Care By Calie.
Knowing exactly what treatments are best for you can be confusing and also overwhelming, which is why I am here to help. Like I stated at the beginning of this blog, my number one priority is to provide individualized care specific to your needs with customizable treatments. No matter your skin type, age, or skin condition I am here to guide you in the right direction. With the wide variety of treatment options which I offer at Skin Care By Calie, I know there is one that is best for you. Even if you are looking to maintain your already fantastic skin and want to relax (as every service includes a facial massage/ hand & arm massage), there is a treatment designed for you and I will help you decide on which is best!
